A flash flood watch has been issued for much of the Tri-State Area on Monday. It takes effect at 2 p.m. and lasts until at least midnight. It's a First Alert Weather Day, as we track downpours, thunderstorms and the enhanced risk of flash flooding across portions of New Jersey.

Excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding as showers and thunderstorms move across the Lehigh Valley and eastern Pennsylvania on Monday afternoon and night.

The Village of Newark Valley was hit particularly hard by the storm Sunday night, with severe flooding in some areas. Newark Valley Mayor James Tornatore says the main areas affected were Brook Street and Rock Street,
