Officials have reported that 27 campers and counselors from Camp Mystic died in the devastating floods, with five campers and a counselor still missing.

As of 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, 96 people — 60 adults and 36 children — are dead after Hill Country flooding, Kerr County officials said.

Both civilians and disaster veterans are questioning Kerr County over the local steps taken after the National Weather Service warned of a potential catastrophe.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said his state "will not stop until every missing person is found" following devastating flooding in central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend that left at least 105 dead. Five young girls and a counselor from Camp Mystic in Hunt remain missing Tuesday.

Before the floods came, Camp Mystic’s sprawling 700-acre campground was dotted with green-roofed, cobblestone cabins and rows of cypress, live oak and pecan trees. After, bed sheets tangled in broken branches. Muddy clothes, an overturned canoe and other belongings from campers remained.
