Americans' views on immigration took a massive positive swing this year amid President Donald Trump's ongoing crackdown, according to new Gallup polling. The share of Americans who thought immigration should decrease – 55% – reached a 5-year high point in 2024.

In a marked reversal from a year ago, more Americans now have positive views about immigration, and a record high believes it is good for the nation.

Gallup found that 62 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the issue, and there are signs of erosion among Republicans, too.
