Tropical Storm Chantal has been downgraded to a tropical depression but is raising concerns of flash flooding in central North Carolina and south-central Virginia.

Tropical depression Chantal brought flooding to North Carolina and spurred water rescues before moving over Virginia overnight Monday.

MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Chantal has formed off the southeast U.S. coast. The National Hurricane Center in Miami says tropical storm warnings have been issued for portions of the Carolinas. Tropical storm conditions are expected in the affected areas later Saturday.
