Democratic Gov. Tony Evers traded tax cuts for increased spending on higher education, schools and child care in a Wisconsin budget compromise with legislative Republicans.

Wisconsin state leaders are racing to pass a new state budget to lock in hospital funding before President Donald Trump signs into law a federal bill.

Gov. Evers signed the budget, now 2025 Wisconsin Act 15, at 1:32 a.m. in his office Thursday, less than an hour after the Assembly passed it.
