Google is making it easier for Gemini users to detect at least some AI-generated content. From today, you’ll be able to use the Gemini app to determine if an image was either created or edited by a Google AI tool, simply by asking Gemini “Is this AI-generated?”

Demis Hassabis of DeepMind fame, a Nobel prize winner for Alphafold, is calling Gemini 3 the “best model in the world for multi-modal understanding.” Hassabis has appeared at Davos to talk about the future of AI, and is quite a big voice in artificial intelligence development.

Customers will need to download the Gemini app on their Android phone, which they will then see on their car’s infotainment display while projecting Android Auto. They can then activate the AI assistant by saying “Hey Google,” pressing the mic button on their car screen, or long pressing the voice control button on their steering wheel.

Google is bringing Gemini to most of the speakers it's released recently, including Google Home and Nest Wifi Point, but not all will get Gemini Live.

On Android and iOS today, the Gemini prompt box is of course narrower so it’s “3 Pro” and “2.5 Flash” (like before), though “Fast” and “Thinking” does appear in the bottom sheet. This is a server-side update, so force stop the Gemini app to load it. On Android, we’re seeing it on both the stable and beta channels of the Google app.
