With Team India gearing up for the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, veteran pacer Mohammed Shami's return to competitive cricket from a long-term injury has sparked excitement among fans and cricket experts.

After having marked his return to competitive cricket with a match haul of seven wickets in the Ranji Trophy, fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been named in Bengal's squad for the 20-over Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which begins on November 23.

Shami showed remarkable performance on his first-class comeback to not only assure his boarding pass for the Australia series Down Under, but also guided Bengal to their first victory of this Ranji Trophy season against old nemesis Madhya Pradesh. Bengal in the last 15 years have always come a cropper against Madhya Pradesh.

Mohammed Shami has been picked for Bengal and will be representing his state side in the upcoming edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) amid rumors of traveling to Australia.

Mohammed Shami made a return to competitive cricket after featuring in the fifth round of the Ranji Trophy tournament. Shami is now set to feature in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament as he bids to make an India return.

Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of the 17-member Mumbai squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, to be played from November 23 to December 15. The squad also features Ajinkya Rahane who has been captaining Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy with the first half of the competition ending recently,
