Osgood Perkins' horror pic 'The Monkey' scared up the second-best opening in the history of Neon, the indie label that's also home of awards darling 'Anora.'

The Anthony Mackie-starring entry easily overtook the Stephen King adaptation "The Monkey" and "Paddington in Peru."It's a brave new world for Anthony Mackie, but not for Marvel, which is back to its usual box office domination tricks.

While blockbusters often see significant slides in their second weekends, only two previous MCU titles have fallen off so fast: 2023’s “The Marvels,” which fell 78%, and 2023’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” which dropped 70%.
