Apple appealed a $580 million fine from the European Commission, which claimed that the company broke the rules controlling how app developers could communicate with users on Monday.

Apple has formally filed an appeal against the European Union's $570 million fine, arguing that the EU is making demands that go beyond the law, and is continually changing the rules to micro-manage the App Store.

Apple has officially appealed a €500 million ($587 million) fine imposed by the European Commission earlier this year, taking the matter to the EU’s second-highest court in a bid to overturn the decision.
